Today will kick off the first of five quarter dollar releases that will honor the 250th anniversary of the birth of our nation. Available in rolls and bags from Philadelphia and Denver, you can purchase the quarters beginning at 12pm EST.
The 2026 Semiquincentennial quarters are just a few of many coins and medals to come from the United States Mint this year as they recognize this massive anniversary for United States. The quarters will take aim at commemorating American Liberty by reflecting on our nation’s history and its foundational principles.
First up for the 2026-dated quarters: the Mayflower Compact. The obverse design depicts two Pilgrims as they look towards the New World. Because the Pilgrims did not land at their intended location, they did not hold a charter to establish their colony at Plymouth. The Mayflower Compact was then signed on November 21, 1620, instituting the colony as a mutual enterprise. This contract is widely considered as the forebearer to the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution. Inscriptions included on the design are E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1776 ~ 2026, and IN GOD WE TRUST.
The reverse features the Mayflower itself, heading west on rough seas. Those aboard the ship sought religious freedom in the New World. They would eventually make landfall at Cape Cod and settle what would later become Plymouth, Massachusetts. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, LIBERTY, MAYFLOWER COMPACT, and 25¢ are inscribed as well.
The 2-roll (P & D) set will retail at $56.00 while the 100-coin bags will retail at $63.
Remaining designs for the one-year only quarter program will reflect the Revolutionary War, the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the Gettysburg Address.
